Brief: This project involved a rear extension, full basement construction beneath the entire footprint of the house, and a complete interior refurbishment. We added front lightwells and a sunken terrace with rear access steps, transforming the property into a modern, energy-efficient home.

The project demanded significant innovation, particularly in basement construction and energy efficiency. Focus Building Solutions developed a pioneering approach to improve U-values and overall energy performance by creatively combining materials and technologies. Thanks to our dedication and ingenuity, this expansive house now consumes the same amount of energy as an average flat, setting a new standard for energy efficiency in existing terraced homes!

We also overcame unique challenges in basement construction due to site restrictions, developing a groundbreaking method of phased underpinning using light machinery. This approach allowed us to work in tight spaces with less than 1 meter of access, bypassing the need for traditional heavy equipment.
